Greenspeed Scorcher
Mark Stonich brought one of the first batch of Greenspeed Scorcher 16” (349 x 40) semi-slick tires. They were originally built mostly to have a fast tire to put on the Greenspeed 16” wheel low racer trikes, but they would be useful on many more bikes than that.

Mark thinks they are nicely built and they satisfy his wish list of being both fat and supple, which should make them easy rolling, at relatively low pressures. . They are rated to 100 psi, but Mark thinks that would only be needed on a small wheel tandem and you could go closer to the low end of the range at 40 psi on the front wheel of an LWB bent.

Jeff Caswell was drooling over these tires, but isn't sure his Micro Bike has enough frame and fork clearance for such a fatty. Calhoun Cycle will be carrying them and sold out their first shipment very quickly at about $30 apiece.

I believe that one of the keys to low speed balance on an LWB is having the front contact patch as close to the center of gravity as possible. This tire supposedly rolls better than almost all 20" tires, but would allow the axle to be closer to the cranks, without interference. Mark
