Dave Gray's "Goiter" Unicycle
Dave says the special wide rims are already available now, with either 32 or 36 holes, and the tire and matching tube should hit the market next month. He thinks a 24” version may become available a little later, and he would like to do a 20” version to cover the range of commonly used adult unicycle sizes. It is possible the smallest size wouldn't be needed if the Schwinn 20 x 4.25” chopper rear tire turned out to be usable for unicycles, but he has some doubts about that tire.

The 26” tire has also been used on bikes (with WIDE fork and stay spacing, of course), and he hears quite regularly from Iditabike competitors who are interested in using it on snow. This would be much simpler than lacing two MTB rims side by side on one rim, which is what a lot of them do now. He has ridden it on ice as is (it has a very big footprint at 5 psi and pretty good traction), though he is also thinking of setting one up with studs for playing on ice and racing at our annual ice races. It may take a little care to come up with the right stud setup, since it is a surprisingly light (for its 4” width and 29” OD, that is) tire with single ply carcass construction and modest sized tread studs.
